We have been delivering several traffic calming projects around the Brooklyn and Altona North area as part of the Northern Local Area Movement Plan (LAMP). The next action item emerging from the LAMP is the Safe Travel to School program which includes traffic calming and pedestrian crossing treatments around Annunciation Primary School.

The project involves the construction of a raised platform at the intersection of Nolan Avenue and Heather Avenue, with a dedicated pedestrian crossing on Heather Avenue. Moreover, two additional flat top speed humps are also proposed on Nolan Avenue and Eames Avenue on the approach to the school. As part of the project, there are also some parking changes proposed on Nolan Avenue.

Delivery of this project presents the following benefits:

  • safer crossing experience for students and pedestrians at the school
  • reduced vehicles speed on the approach to the school
