What we're looking for

We’re looking for projects that will make Hobsons Bay an even more vibrant, welcoming and exciting place to live, work, study and visit. Projects that deliver something special to support people in our community.  

Up to $50,000 is available to deliver each project. The selected projects will be delivered by the team at Hobsons Bay City Council in the 2023/24 financial year.

The fine print

What type of projects can be submitted?

We are looking for community focused project ideas that support our vision of creating an inclusive, empowered, sustainable and visionary community. Projects can solve a problem for your local area or be an initiative that brings people together. 

Your idea should help make Hobsons Bay an even better place to live, work, study, invest and visit.  

All projects need to:  

  • Demonstrate strong community benefit – deliver something for our community 

  • Be delivered by Council between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2024 

  • Not exceed the budget allocation of $50,000 per project.

Please note, selected projects will be delivered on your behalf by Hobsons Bay City Council. If you or your organisation wish to deliver our own project, program or initiative, keep an eye out for the Make it Happen community grants which open early next year. 

Who can submit a project?

Pitch Your Project is open to everyone in Hobsons Bay! Residents (of all ages!), community groups, sporting clubs, businesses and organisations.  If you have an idea, share it with us!  

If you’re not part of the Hobsons Bay community, sorry, you can’t submit a project. But you could move here! 

What can’t be submitted?

Projects that can't be submitted are: 

  • Projects which will exceed the $50,000 individual project budget.
  •  Capital work projects including, road upgrades, park master planning and playground improvements. Capital works projects are are planned and delivered as part of Council's annual budget process.
  • Grants for community groups and sports clubs. These need to be submitted through the community grants process.

What happens next?

All submitted projects will be assessed by the team at Hobsons Bay City Council and a shortlist will be created.  

The shortlisted projects will be shared with the Hobsons Bay community to vote for their favourite.

Voting on the shortlist will open in April 2023.

The winning projects will be funded and delivered by Hobsons Bay City Council in the 2023/24 financial year.

Terms and conditions

  • The selected projects will be delivered as part of Hobsons Bay City Council’s 2023/24 Budget. 

  • A proposed total of $600,000 is for the delivery of all projects (subject to the 2023/24 Council budget adoption). 

  • Up to $50,000 is available for each project committed for delivery. 

  • The projects will be delivered on your behalf by Hobsons Bay City Council.
