Opening hours

Council’s Customer Service front counter is open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm. 

Planning services

Planning services are currently available by calling 1300 179 944.


The Hobsons Bay Civic Centre is at 115 Civic Parade, at the end of Pier Street, Altona.

By train

The closest station is Altona Station on the Werribee line.

By bus

Catch Route 415 (Laverton-Williamstown). The bus runs via Civic Parade and there is a bus stop at the front of the Hobsons Bay Civic Centre or near the train station on Pier Street. 

By car

Visitor parking spaces are to the right at the front of the building as well as to the left near the main entrance.

Hobsons Bay Language Line

The Hobsons Bay Language Line offers recorded information about the key Council services in nine community languages, with an option to connect directly to an interpreter and Council Officer.    

Recorded information covers the following topics:

  2. Aged and Disability Services
  3. Rates, Local Law and Fines
  4. Waste, Recycling, Town Planning and Building Permits
  5. Sport, Recreation and Community Centres

Recorded information is available in the following languages: Greek, Vietnamese, Arabic, Italian, Cantonese, Macedonian, Mandarin, Karen and English.
