Council launches new public dashboards

Council reporting

It’s now easier to measure how Council is delivering services for our community with the release of 10 publicly available dashboards on Council’s website.

Mayor of Hobsons Bay, Councillor Peter Hemphill, said the dashboards, which will be updated regularly, will allow residents to view how Council is tracking on a range of key projects, program and services.

“The public facing dashboards cover a huge breadth of Council’s services, from the types of trees going in the ground, our collective efforts to divert waste from landfill and the top 10 enquiries to customer service,” said Cr Hemphill.

“As well as measuring how Council is tracking, the dashboards and maps make it easy for residents to find information they need, such as which planning zones they live in, heritage and industrial overlays, bin collection areas and how to get in touch with their local Councillor.”

“Now we have made the dashboards publicly available, we would love to hear from the community about how we can improve the dashboards and importantly, other areas of Council’s work they would like us to track.”

Current dashboards and maps include:

  • Hobsons Bay at a glance – detailed map of facilities and services
  • Capital works – map of current capital works projects
  • Waste and recycling services – service statistics, including how much waste is diverted from landfill
  • Public facilities – map of facilities searched by suburb or type
  • Sustainability initiatives – solar generation and electricity use data
  • Urban forest – map of scheduled tree planting
  • Public health – data on noise and air quality enquiries
  • Planning applications and building permits – data on planning permits and developments
  • Customer service - data on wait time calls and web chats
  • Council Plan initiatives and key projects – measures how Council is progressing against each objective.
