Borrack Square, Duke Street and McArthurs Road, Altona North

Council has been working on the Transport Safety Improvement Program in Borrack Square, Duke Street and McArthurs Road, Altona North, which is scheduled to commence in financial year 2023-24.

The Transport Safety Improvement Program stem from the ‘Better Places’ and the ‘Local Area Movement Plan - Brooklyn and Altona North’ place guides.

Council was contacted by several residents regarding road safety and speeding concerns within McArthurs Road and the surrounding streets.

The project involves:

  • a new raised pedestrian crossing along Duke Street to the east of the post office connecting Duke Street Reserve to Borrack Square.
  • a new raised pedestrian crossing along Duke Street at the intersection of Duke Street and McArthurs Road.
  • a new signalised raised pedestrian crossing along McArthurs Road to the east of the intersection of McArthurs Road and Borrack Square.
  • three (3) new raised safety platforms along McArthurs Road between Chambers Road and Duke Street.
