The Hobsons Bay Wetlands Centre (HBWC) are working with the Conservation team to host a "Farewell to our Migratory Shorebirds" to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day.

These amazing birds, ranging from 30g for the smallest bird and approximately 900g for the largest bird, must fly all the way from our shores in Hobsons Bay, back to their breeding grounds in places like Alaska and Siberia. Some of these birds will travel the distance to the moon and back over their lifetime, an almost inconceivable feat. Some of the birds fly this distance non-stop and risk exhaustion if they have not built up enough strength in their time down-under. Others make frequent stops along the way, traveling via the aptly named East-Asian-Australasian Flyway.

Join the hardworking volunteer team from HBWC for this family-friendly fun day full of things to participate in, including guided tours and other activities. HBWC especially welcome people from our culturally and linguistically diverse communities to this event and will be tailoring some activities to suit these communities.

For all the latest details on this event, please see HBWC events or follow HBWC on Facebook.
