Traditional Weaving (Altona)
Join Bunurong/Boon wurrung and Wiradjuri woman Samantha Bennett for this special NAIDOC week experience.
Traditional weaving is an important aspect of many mobs within ‘Australia’ who utilise different techniques and stories.
Weaving creates an environment for connection and community togetherness. The classes are designed to be enjoyed and aimed at the beginner weaver and/or our younger members of community, as well as their parent guardian.
You are welcome to bring young children along to this event. Samantha has a long history with community engagement and volunteering within her Aboriginal community with the Kulin Nation.
As a mum of four and kinship parent to many more, Samantha is a strong advocate for healing intergenerational wrongs by promoting and sharing Aboriginal culture, and encouraging reconciliation both within mainstream and Aboriginal communities.
This workshop is designed for beginners and kids.
