Rifle Range Reserve

Rifle-Range

Access into the reserve can be made from numerous points including Mullins Court, Crofton Drive, Caspian Terrace and corner of Maddox Road and Kororoit Creek Road.

The Bay West share trail winds through the Rifle Range Reserve which allows views onto Port Phillip Bay and access to the Rifle Range wetlands. There are two bird hides that provide cover and good vantage points to observe water birds such as ducks, swans, egrets and ibis. The garden beds are representative of local indigenous plants which occurred in the area prior to European settlement. The trail also passes entry points into the Jawbone Flora and Fauna Reserve which is geologically significant for its basalt boulders interfacing with the Bay. White Mangrove is of state significance with a small population occurring in this space.

Dogs must be on leads at all times, snakes can be found in reserves across Hobsons Bay. To become involved with the Friends of Williamstown Wetlands contact Council on 9932 1000 or email ranger@hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au.
