Seniors Exercise Park in Spotswood
Hobsons Bay 360 #4: Helping our older residents keep fit, healthy and socially connected
We have recently refurbished Donald McLean Reserve in Spotswood to include specialised outdoor exercise equipment (Seniors Exercise Park) for older people to engage in physical and social activities. The brand-new equipment aims to help older people improve strength, balance, flexibility and mobility.
Council have teamed up with the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) in a project called Enjoy Impact, to activate this brilliant new space for seniors. Local volunteers have been trained by NARI to show people how to safely use the equipment and each station at the park has a QR code that links directly to a video that shows people how to use the equipment correctly.

Why is it important to keep your body moving in your senior years?
Exercising is a great way to socialise and have fun while getting active. It’s also a boost for your mental and physical health, improving your mood and reducing stress.
