International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT)
Each year, Hobsons Bay City Council raises the rainbow flag to acknowledge International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). IDAHOBIT is the international day for taking action for a prejudice-free world regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.
IDAHOBIT began in 2004 and is observed annually on 17 May to mark the date in 1990 when the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from the list of mental disorders. Despite this, many members of the LGBTIQA+ community still face discrimination, prejudice and stigmatisation.
Midsumma Carnival Stall
Carnival is a family friendly day that marks the beginning of Midsumma festival. The local western region councils will be at carnival with a stall. It is a great opportunity for councils to show support for our LGBTQIA+ communities by promoting services and events which are happening in the West.
Victorian Pride March
Council celebrates the inherent qualities of all people, supporting human rights for all. Join the Western Region Councils in the Pride March, collectively walking under the banner of “Out West”.
