McIntosh Road Transport Safety Project
We are currently in the design stage of an upcoming project in our community that aims to enhance road safety along McIntosh Road, between Mills Street and Ross Road, as part of the 'Local Area Movement Plan' implemented by Council.
Over the past few years, we have been dedicated to improving road safety in Altona North, and the next stage of this initiative focuses on addressing concerns regarding speeding, pedestrian safety, and road safety along McIntosh Road.
The project involves:
- Installation of bus-friendly raised platform pedestrian crossings to encourage safer pedestrian crossings and reduce vehicle speeds
- Kerb outstands at key intersections to improve sight lines
- Upgrades to existing pedestrian infrastructure to provide better accessibility for pedestrians and ensure their safety
- Line marking adjustments to clearly indicate road user priority and improve overall traffic management
