Hobsons Bay City Council's 2025–26 Annual Report highlights a year of achievements across the municipality.
The report was endorsed at the October Council meeting on Tuesday, providing a comprehensive overview of Council's performance, projects, services and financial position over the past financial year.
The report reflects Council's ongoing commitment to delivering the services and infrastructure that matter most to the community.
Among the key achievements highlighted in the report were:
A $52.6 million capital works program contributing to the renewal, maintenance and improvement of infrastructure and facilities
Completion of The Zone youth space in Altona North
Planting of more than 2,000 advanced trees
More than 645,000 library visits, an increase of 42,000 on the previous year, with nearly half a million items borrowed and more than 1,000 library programs delivered
Nearly 7,000 downloads of Council's new bin app, as well as collection of nearly 30 tonnes of electronic waste
More than 95,000 attendees across Council events, festivals and cultural venue activities
More than $500,000 in community grants allocated to 77 applicants through the Make it Happen grants program
More than 10,000 immunisations delivered
The 2025-29 Council Plan was also published, drawing on feedback from more than 1,300 community members to outline to priorities of Council for the coming years.
One of the priorities from that feedback was around community safety, which was embraced through the establishment of the Hobsons Bay Local Safety Committee in partnership with Victoria Police.
The report also reflected the changes within the organisation, with a new executive leadership in place, led by CEO Phu Nguyen from January.
The new leadership team has taken steps towards building a positive culture and strengthening governance, with the Council Improvement Action Plan playing an important role in guiding these outcomes.
