Road users in Altona will have access to a safer and more accessible crossing, with a new bridge at the old ford on Altona and Racecourse Road now open.

After six months of upgrade works, Council’s capital works program has delivered a new elevated crossing at Altona and Racecourse Road, reducing flood risk and making it more reliable for people driving, walking and riding.

The new crossing replaces the old low-lying ford, which was prone to flooding and closures.

The new crossing is now open for the community to utilise.
