Altona North Kororoit Creek activity

Next date: Sunday, 06 September 2026 | 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Kororoit Creek

Join the Friends of Lower Kororoit Creek and the Hobsons Bay conservation rangers for a family-friendly conservation activity along this important creekline.

Kororoit Creek is one of the most important wildlife corridors in Hobsons Bay as it features riparian woodlands, open woodlands and threatened saltmarsh communities at its mouth. Animals that are rarely seen elsewhere in Hobsons Bay can be seen here such as kingfishers, swamp harriers and swamp wallabies. However this creekline also faces unique challenges as weeds that rarely occur elsewhere in Hobsons Bay are also seen here, as they are washed down from upstream locations.

The Friends of Lower Kororoit Creek have a long history of rehabilitating this ecosystem. Please join them in activities such as watering, mulching, hand weeding, tree guarding and planting. Also feel free to stay for a light morning tea after the event.
