Laverton Community Association

OUR VISION The Laverton Community Association aims to make Laverton a vibrant place to live and work and where all members of the community feel empowered, safe, healthy, happy and proud to call Laverton home. OUR AIMS To advocate on behalf of, and in consultation with, the people of Laverton; To promote Laverton within the wider community; To support and build capacity in residents by creating opportunities for improved learning, wellbeing, personal growth and economic sustainability; To implement the vision for Laverton as outlined initially in the Laverton Community Action Plan 2006 – 2015; and To have input into issues affecting the built environment in order to promote sustainable development, community wellbeing and public safety. OUR OBJECTIVES To provide a forum where residents and other key stakeholders can express their needs and if possible, establish mechanisms for having those needs addressed; To work with the Hobsons Bay City Council, Victorian and Australian governments and other stakeholders, as necessary, to implement agreed strategic plans for Laverton, with initial attention focussing on the Laverton Community Action Plan in the period 2006 - 2015 and the Laverton Community Renewal project (2009 - 2012) to guide strategic directions in the first instance; To identify gaps in service provision within the community and initiate alone or with other organisations, ways of meeting those needs; To support and assist community strengthening and development initiatives that arise from within the community; To develop community awareness and involvement in environmental conservation matters and to lead by example in promoting environmentally sound practices and procedures; To liaise and share information with similar groups via membership of relevant bodies and committees; To act as the auspice for non-Incorporated local entities; and To ensure the financial viability of the Laverton Community Association.
