Heritage Strategy
Hobsons Bay has a rich and diverse heritage, including historic buildings, significant railway, industrial and maritime infrastructure, natural landscapes, multiculturalism and the Bunurong People of the Kulin Nation’s connection to Country.
We’re developing a Heritage Strategy which will help us improve how we identify, protect, support, promote and celebrate our heritage.
Provide feedback and tell us what you value about Hobsons Bay’s heritage from 19 November to 17 December. View the preliminary draft strategy and have your say.
What is the Heritage Strategy about?
The Heritage Strategy focuses on four key themes and objectives:
Knowing – to improve our understanding of Hobsons Bay’s heritage by identifying places that are important to us and ensuring that information is well documented.
Protecting – to ensure heritage places are protected, appropriately managed and valued.
Supporting – to support heritage through Council’s various roles and responsibilities.
Promoting and celebrating – to celebrate our heritage as a community, including its contribution to the visitor economy and creative city, raising awareness and appreciation and enhancing its value for all.
Council is currently seeking feedback on the vision and key challenges and opportunities. This will help inform the draft Heritage Strategy which will include a strategic action plan for the next 10 years.
