Waste and Recycling Strategy
Following months of community engagement and careful drafting, Council's new Waste and Recycling Strategy was endorsed at the meeting.
The new Waste and Recycling Strategy (2026) confirms Council’s commitment to improving waste and recycling services to the community and to managing its own waste responsibly.
More than 1,700 community members and organisations participated through various forms of engagement to have their say on the strategy.
The strategy outlines Council’s current services, including the continued delivery of four streams of kerbside collection and the proactive management of litter in public spaces.
It also includes 31 actions to improve these services over the next five years, such as public communal glass and food and garden waste bins in select locations, and strengthening the monitoring, deterrence and clean-up program for illegal dumping through CCTV trials at dumping hot spots.
