Annual dredging at Altona Harbour will begin next Monday 4 May to maintain safe water depths for boats using the harbour ramps. Sand naturally builds up near the breakwaters due to wind and current conditions, creating navigation hazards that require routine removal.
As part of the works, black sediment will be placed on sections of Seaholme foreshore and the PA Burns Reserve dog beach. Some odour may be noticeable for up to two weeks, before the material naturally weathers back into clean, rejuvenated sand.
Thank you for your patience while these important safety works are carried out.
