Hobsons Bay’s path for the next four years and beyond has been set after Council voted to adopt four key strategic documents last night.

Council Plan 2025-29 and the Health, Wellbeing and Safety Plan 2025-29 set the community’s priorities for the rest of this Council term, while long-term asset and financial plans have also been updated.

Together, these four plans guide our work and programs to ensure the community receives the services it wants, and that our assets are maintained and renewed effectively and financially responsibly.

These four plans have been finalised following months of community consultation – first to determine the community’s broad priorities, then to draft and refine goals and actions to help us achieve these priorities.

All four plans also work to help us achieve the broader Community Vision, which is a high-level, broad ambition for Hobsons Bay. During the consultation process for these strategic documents, the Community Vision has also been updated and is now that:

“By 2040, we are a safe, sustainable and healthy community, supported by an accountable, efficient and transparent Council.”

The Council Plan sets out four key themes:

  • Healthy community

  • Sustainable environment

  • Liveable city

  • Accountable Council

Each theme has a series of goals, each of which has measurable actions, which Council will undertake as part of four annual action plans, and which will be funded by the annual budget.

The Health, Wellbeing and Safety Plan includes the goals and actions from the Council Plan that will work towards ensuring Hobsons Bay’s community is healthy, connected and safe.

The 10-year asset and financial plans have been updated to show how Council will manage its assets and budgets over the next decade to help us achieve the goals set out in the Council Plan.
