Edina Street Reserve upgrade

Construction works for Edina Street Reserve upgrade in Williamstown North are scheduled to commence in October 2026 and are expected to be completed in December 2026, weather permitting.

The final designs for Edina Street have been informed by the latest round of community feedback. The design focuses on natural materials, nature play and a native look and feel. This kind of design was responded to positively during the initial community consultation. We have retained the general play space arrangement by including two larger play pieces – a combination unit with slide, cubbys, rope climb and ladder, and a timber climbing structure.

We have made the following changes:

  • Fast growing native shade trees. The project now has 21 new trees to the northwest of major play equipment, where it is needed most.
  • Timber spinner, aimed towards older children, to ensure play equipment provision has not been reduced.
  • Swing set.
  • Mounding to enclose the swing set and prevent younger children from running into the clear area. The mounding will also prevent cars entering from Gem Street and Cerberus Street corner and using the reserve as an overflow carpark.
  • Additional major seating area underneath the existing significant street tree, as identified by community on site.
  • Revised the granitic path to a full concrete path for ease of access.

During these works the reserve will be fenced off and closed to the public.

While the project is under construction, an alternative playground is RJ Long Reserve Playground on 54 Florence St, Williamstown North.
