Networks and partners

Hobsons Bay Youth Services facilitates various networks across the municipality and broader Western region. Stakeholders include a range of youth-focused professionals from local secondary schools, not-for-profit organisations, government agencies and other support services.

Hobsons Bay Youth Network

What

This network aims to:

  • distribute up to date information about the youth sector at local, state and federal levels
  • offer opportunities for representatives to share information about new initiatives
  • provide networking opportunities to create stronger working relationships and build resources for young people in Hobsons Bay

Who

Professionals in youth focused roles including staff from schools, community health services, not-for-profit organisations, government departments and agencies.

When

8.45am arrival for a 9.15am start. Light refreshments and networking from 10.30am.

Western Region Youth Counsellors Network

What

A supportive network for youth counselling professionals working with young people in Melbourne’s Western regions. Counsellors can develop skills and knowledge, build networks, seek advice and share resources.   

Who

To be eligible you must be employed and practice in a wellbeing role in the Western suburbs of Melbourne. Members are required to attend at least 2 meetings per year. All discussions are confidential.

Use of facilities

What

Hobsons Bay Youth Services have resources and rooms available for use. Each booking request is a case-by-case assessment and dependent on availability, condition and purpose.

Who

These are purely for the use or benefit for young people, or programming/ networks that benefit young people.

Available spaces

  • ASPIRE youth program room – best space for meetings or small groups. Priority given to young people, youth programs and meetings (suitable for 40 people seated theatre style/ 35 seated with tables, 50 standing).
  • BELONG youth program room – best space for forums and youth programs with couches and bean bags. Priority given to young people, youth programs and meetings.
  • CREATE youth program/ music room – a rehearsal and recording space for young people.

Youth Mental Health First Aid

Youth Mental Health First Aid equips adults who teach, care for, or support young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise, understand and respond to a young person experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis.

Youth Mental Health First Aid training is available to people who work and volunteer with young people in Hobsons Bay.

Youth Mental Health First Aid refresher training is available to people who work or volunteer with young people in Hobsons Bay; have completed the above two-day course in the last three years; and would like their skills and accreditation to remain current, practical and recognised.

This training is funded and delivered by Hobsons Bay Youth Services.

Co-located services

We have the ability to host additional (co-located) services for young people at level 1, Newport Community Hub. In this way young people have greater access to a range of health and wellbeing services in their local area.
