Welcome to Cooraminta Children's Centre We hope your child’s year at kindergarten will be an enjoyable one. This year is a very important stage of development and we hope to promote independence and a feeling of greater confidence in your child. We hope all parents and families will become involved in our kindergarten activities and make this a very successful and memorable year for all. Our Philosophy. We believe that childhood is a precious and unique time and that children should be valued and encouraged to thrive. We believe that home, family, community and our children’s centre are all important elements in the education of the child. We promote cultural awareness amongst the children, families, staff and the wider community. We believe that our centre promotes respect and tolerance towards each other, the families and the children. We ensure that all staff interactions at the service with both children and adults is respectful, honest, courteous, sensitive, tactful and considerate. We believe in actively promoting gender, racial and cultural equality in all the activities we provide and the resources’ we utilize at the centre. We believe our program should include activities that encourage an appreciation of music, literacy, numeracy, art and physical activity. We are committed in supporting each child to achieve learning outcomes consistent with the National Early Years Learning Framework and /or the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework. We understand that children develop at varying rates and therefore require access to a variety of activities and experiences that cater for a range of developmental levels. We understand the importance of providing a safe and secure environment whilst also accepting that learning requires taking risks and accepting new challenges. Your children’s time at our centre is when they can explore freely, satisfy their curiosity and learn at the same time. They gain enjoyment by becoming aware of themselves, others and the world around them. A child accomplishes this through play.
