Second municipal monitor appointed

The state government has appointed a second municipal monitor for Hobsons Bay City Council for a further six months. 

Rebecca McKenzie joins existing monitor John Tanner AM in their respective roles from 1 January to 30 June. 

Mr Tanner was appointed by the Victorian Government in late May 2025 for a six-month period, which has now been extended in-line with Ms McKenzie’s appointment. 

Ms McKenzie brings considerable experience and expertise in local government, having previously served as a chief executive officer and senior executive. 

The monitors’ roles are to provide advice, assistance and support to Council in strengthening governance processes and practices, building on recent significant improvements already undertaken across Council.
