Notice of intention to grant a lease – Altona Leisure Centre, corner Mills and Mason Streets, Altona North VIC 3025 & Laverton Swim and Fitness Centre, 26 – 62 Jennings Street, Laverton VIC 3028
Hobsons Bay City Council (Council) gives notice under section 115 of the Local Government Act 2020 of its intention to enter a new lease with BlueFit Pty Ltd ACN 127 508 230 and BlueFit Group Pty Ltd ACN 623 370 552 (BlueFit) that includes both the Altona Leisure Centre and the Laverton Swimming and Fitness Centre (the Proposal).
Industry special BlueFit has a current lease with Council to operate the Altona Centre ending on 31 July 2032. BlueFit also has an interim lease to operate the Laverton Centre ending on 27 April 2026, which can be extended until the new ongoing lease is in place. A previous notice of intention to grant a lease for the ongoing operation at the Laverton Centre was published on 11 February 2026. Following further assessment, Council intends to grant a new single lease that includes both centres on the terms below. The new lease arrangement will provide administrative efficiencies and secure consistent, safe and compliant operations across both centres for the benefit of the Hobsons Bay community.
Both centres are located on Council Freehold Land.
Principal terms of the proposed new lease to apply across both centres will be:
Commencement date: 1 August 2026
Expiry date: 31 July 2032

Property addresses: Altona Leisure Centre, corner of Mills and Mason Streets, Altona North VIC 3025; and Laverton Swimming and Fitness Centre, on part of 26-62 Jennings Street, Laverton VIC 3028.
Permitted use: Operation of a gymnasium, aquatic centre and leisure centre and other activities normally associated with the operation of a fitness and leisure centre including at the Altona premises a health and wellbeing centre (with therapeutic and sports medical services) and cafe.
Feedback on the Proposal must be lodged in writing to the property team at property@hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au.
The closing date for providing feedback is 5pm on Wednesday 27 May.
