Learn something new during National Science Week
Published on 11 August 2025
Hobsons Bay community members will be able to celebrate National Science Week with free and fun activities across Council libraries from today.
From space-themed story times to LEGO building sessions and thought-provoking science talks with a comedic twist, there is something for everyone.
Council activities will take place at libraries across Hobsons Bay from 11 to 16 August.
Hosting the science events at Council libraries creates fun, accessible pathways for children and families to explore foundational concepts in science and technology.
The national event, running from 9 to 17 August, is Australia’s largest annual celebration of science and technology, aiming to promote scientific literacy and engage with people of all ages through hands-on experiences.
Quotes attributable to Mayor of Hobsons Bay, Cr Daria Kellander:
“The science week program across our libraries is one every member of our community can enjoy.
“It’s great that we can engage with an occasion such as National Science Week to lay the groundwork for lifelong learning and literacy of science from the earliest years.”
