Kororoit Creek Shared Trail

The Kororoit Creek Shared Trail is a popular walking and cycling route that follows Kororoit Creek from Hobsons Bay through to Brimbank, ending at Isabella Williams Memorial Reserve in Deer Park.

Stages 4 and 5 will complete an important missing link in the trail, connecting Altona and Altona North to the broader walking and cycling network, including the Federation Trail.

The completed trail will also connect users to the existing section featuring the striking Spirits of Time and Place public artworks by Brooklyn artist Geoffrey Ricardo.

Once complete, the trail will provide safer, more convenient travel options for cyclists and pedestrians and improve connections to Melbourne's CBD and surrounding western suburbs.

Stages 4 and 5

The final stages of the Kororoit Creek Shared Trail project will deliver approximately 2 kilometres of new shared-use path for cyclists and pedestrians.

The new trail will be constructed within the Kororoit Creek Trail Reserve, extending from Barnes Road to Cherry Lake in Altona North.

The project also includes significant environmental improvements, with more than 6,400 trees and shrubs to be planted along the corridor.

Construction timeline

Construction will be delivered in two stages:

Portion 1: Cherry Lake to Kororoit Creek Road
Construction is expected to commence in late 2026 and be completed by mid-2027 (weather permitting).
