Code of Conduct and Protocol

Employee Code of Conduct

Message from the Chief Executive Officer

Hobsons Bay City Council sets and upholds high ethical standards. As an organisation, we think not just about what we do but also how we do it, through the way all employees work and the experience of our customers.

This Code of Conduct describes standards of professional conduct that promotes adherence to the Local Government Act 2020, relevant employment legislation, Council’s values, Hobsons 2.0 principles, the Enterprise Agreement, and policies and procedures, and provides the boundaries within which to operate every day. All employees are expected to exercise sound judgement and live up to both the content and spirit of this Code of Conduct, by taking personal responsibility for the way they perform their duties.

This Code of Conduct recognises that all employees can demonstrate ethical behaviour in how they perform their role and is a statement of Council and its employee’s commitment to the Hobsons Bay community and their colleagues. Council requires that all employees are committed to being honest, conducting themselves with a sense of integrity and providing superior service. Council strives to be an agile organisation, that can adapt to the evolving needs of the Hobsons Bay community. It is therefore critical that all employees have a shared understanding of how to collectively serve the community through Council’s commitment to excellence.
