Celebrate the remarkable birdlife of Hobsons Bay and explore how we can work together to protect local bird populations from the growing threat of H5N1 avian influenza (bird flu).

The wonder of birds: advocating for Hobsons Bay’s birds with Sean Dooley

To begin the day, award-winning author and bird enthusiast Sean Dooley will be joining us to introduce the audience to the rich coastal and migratory birdlife of Hobsons Bay. Sean will also explore the challenges posed by H5N1 bird flu and share practical ways community members can help protect and conserve local bird populations.

Nature journaling with taxidermied birds: workshop with Dr. Kathleen Bagot
12.30pm to 2.30pm

Following a one-hour break, join Kathleen Bagot from Nothing Like Nature for a guided nature journaling workshop inspired by the birds of Hobsons Bay. Participants will have the unique opportunity to closely observe and sketch taxidermied bird specimens, while reflecting on the importance of bird conservation, the threat of the H5N1 bird flu, and community action

Each participant will receive and take home an A5 watercolour journal and a set of watercolour pencils. Brushes, fine liners and other art materials will be supplied for use during the session and returned afterward.

Learn, create and be part of a community effort to protect the birds of Hobsons Bay.

Bookings close at 8.30am on day of session. Please book into your preferred session/s.
