Flags to Bags sewing workshop

Flags to Bags is a Maribyrnong City Council initiative that gives old council banners a second life. Hobsons Bay is joining in by also transforming our discarded banners into tote bags for local charities.

To do this, we’re looking for a few extra hands to help bring this project to life. We’d love support from people with:
• Basic machine-sewing skills
• Hand-sewing skills
• Help with cutting and preparing materials

We’ll have dedicated tutorials at 10am and 1pm to step you through the process (this is recommended for new attendees), although support and direction will be available throughout the day.

The session runs from 10am–3.30pm, and you’re welcome to drop in and out as suits you.

Please indicate with the booking if you will be attending in the morning, afternoon or both to help us manage the numbers.

Light refreshments and guidance will be available throughout the day.

If you’re looking for a fun morning of sewing for a good cause, come along, lend a hand, and maybe even pick up a few extra skills too.
