Australian Breastfeeding Association - Breastfeeding first aid
Next date: Monday, 31 August 2026 | 08:30 AM
to 11:30 AM
Many first-time mothers are surprised that breastfeeding does not always come naturally and that problems can arise. Knowledge of some common breastfeeding issues and prevention strategies can help avoid or minimise problems. In this session we will chat about common breastfeeding issues and useful prevention and first aid tips you can try.
Some topics we will discuss are:
- engorgement
- nipple damage (eg cracks)
- localised breast inflammation (blocked ducts)
- mastitis
- breast and nipple thrush and other infections
Connect & Share sessions involve getting together to participate in a facilitated group chat on a particular topic. The session usually has around 15-20 minutes of formal discussion on the topic, followed by questions and social time.
There will be a breastfeeding counsellor present if you have an individual breastfeeding question or need some support.
This is a very relaxed meet up – it’s fine if you come late/leave early – we know what it’s like to be operating on baby time!
Partners, expectant parents, friends, and children are welcome.
Phone or text Mel if you get lost 0422 551 598.
