Children's services

Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Council services are changing.

Information about Council's response to Coronavirus and the effect on services can be found here.

Council does not provide childcare or kindergarten services within Hobsons Bay. These services are provided through private enterprises, community managed organisations and volunteer committees of management. Council does provide support to kindergartens and also manages a central enrolment register for kinder across the municipality to streamline the process for families applying to four year old kinder and to ensure equity of access. Individual kindergartens set their own fees, however they each have an agreement with Council to ensure any annual increase in fees does not exceed CPI.

All services are licensed by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and provide quality child care and education options to meet the needs of children and their families.

There are community managed and privately operated long day care and occasional care centres in Hobsons Bay. The majority of long day care centres also provide a funded four year old kindergarten program. For all enrollment enquiries please contact centres directly.

Outside of school care programs
