International Women's Day
International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated around the world on 8 March to acknowledge the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women – while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality.
The theme for International Women’s Day 2025 is #AccelerateAction, with the campaign theme emphasising the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality.
International Women's Day in Hobsons Bay 2025
Hobsons Bay is hosting two events - the first celebrating those in Hobsons Bay making efforts to accelerate action for gender equality; and another, for the business community in partnership with Maribyrnong City Council.
Accelerate Action world cafe event
Hobsons Bay City Council invite community members to join us for a celebration of local efforts to accelerate action for gender equality.
A 'world cafe' event featuring inspiring local women will lead discussions on gender equality topics. The event also encompasses an afternoon tea with child-friendly activities available.

Feona Wadsworth
Big Group Hug
Feona Wadsworth is the Relationship Development Coordinator at Big Group Hug. Big Group Hug provides essential items such as clothing, bedding, car seats, prams, cots, formula and toiletries to local families and children who are experiencing hardship. They take in donated items from the community and then work with over 130 agencies and support organisations to help over 7,000 vulnerable children each year with many located within Hobsons Bay.

Ursula is a dynamic leader and currently serves as the Chair of the Board for The Substation. A mother of one and a lover of giving back, Ursula nurtures passions beyond her day job as a tax partner at KPMG where she is known for driving talent mobility across borders through her expertise in tax.
Ursula will be speaking to accelerating gender equity through promoting creative and artistic talent, opportunities and empowerment of women and girls.
