Fishing not allowed at Newport Lakes

A reminder for residents that fishing is not permitted at Newport Lakes. Newport Lakes is a designated reserve for native flora and fauna and passive activities such as birdwatching, walking and picnics.

Fishing can cause unintended environmental impacts including hooks and lines entangling native birds, causing death or harm. If you would like to fish in Hobsons Bay, there are plenty of opportunities around the foreshore and other places such as at The Warmies in Williamstown where fishing is permitted.
