Council’s vision for reconciliation is one in which the broader community is positively engaged with and celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and peoples. Council envisages a community that celebrates the value and diversity of our First Nations and one in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples feel a sense of pride and belonging.

Council acknowledges that Reconciliation is an ongoing practical process that requires trust, mutual respect and a commitment to build understanding and recognition. Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
