Maidstone Street Grassland

Located on Maidstone Street, south of the railway crossing. This reserve showcases the Western Basalt Plains Grassland community, which is the most endangered eco-system in Australia with estimates that only 0.1 per cent remain. Council undertakes seasonal walks and talks particularly around spring when the wildflowers are at their best. The area is managed for these values, with ongoing weed work and rehabilitation efforts such as biomass reduction. With the exemption of Council-organised tours, this grassland is not accessible to the public and there are no facilities at the reserve.
