Nature's Palette: A Celebration of Williamstown by Leah Bartholomew
Artist: Leah Bartholomew
Year: 2025
Location: 89 Ferguson Street, Williamstown
"My observations of local flora have been a key influence on my art practice and have inspired my signature style of celebrating the natural environment. In my artwork concepts, I celebrate the biodiversity of Hobsons Bay City Council, with a focus on Williamstown. My artworks reflect the colourful scenes of the beach, nature and local native flora found in the area. I have included stylised, large-scale representations of flora such as: lobe-seed daisy, lemon beauty-heads, bulbine lily, flowering gum, banksia and native scurf pea.
I want the artwork to uplift the audience and the space it’s in. My aim is to bring soothing and striking colour palettes into the Hobsons Bay council area and make it a talking piece across all demographics where you can discover something new, be educated, feel optimistic, cheerful and connect with nature."
