Managing Depression & How to Talk About Suicide
This session will smash the stigma and invite a frank and open conversation around the prevalence of depression and suicide within the music community. You’ll hear from folks in the industry who have experienced the impact of depression and suicide first-hand and we’ll explore some ways we can better support ourselves and our music mates when the black dog comes sniffin’.

Presented by Support Act. Support Act is the music industry’s charity, delivering crisis relief services to musicians, managers, crew and music workers across all genres who are unable to work due to ill health, injury, a mental health problem or some other crisis, such as COVID-19.
Presented as part of Creative Exchange Lab meets Live From The Altona Theatre, a professional development program for local creatives presented by Hobsons Bay City Council as part of On The Road Again.
Live From The Altona Theatre is presented by Hobsons Bay City Council as part of On The Road Again, a Victorian government initiative to bring live music back across the state. As well as three concerts at the Altona Theatre, in August, September and October, we are excited to present a focus on music in Council’s Creative Exchange Lab professional development program. Creative Exchange Lab aims to provide an opportunity for all local creatives to get together, through a great mix of free, in person and online workshops and networking opportunities. For artists, musicians, producers, writers, tech people, all creatives. It brings Support Act, Music Victoria, Access All Areas, Soundstep Studios to Hobsons Bay, with a program that goes from health and wellbeing, unlocking creativity, how to access funds, and more. Thanks to venue partners Louis Joel Arts & Community Centre and Woods Street Arts Space.
