Live from the Altona Theatre  is a three-night concert series, delivering live contemporary music to audiences in the west from the Altona Theatre, a 244-seat purpose-built theatre in the heart of Pier Street, Altona.

With an amazing line up of artists, Live from the Altona Theatre could make the Altona Theatre a sustainable new music venue, contributing to Melbourne’s touring gig circuit, right here in Hobsons Bay.  

Live from the Altona Theatre is presented by Hobsons Bay City Council as part of On the Road Again, a Victorian Government initiative.

Cult indie artist, queer icon, and one of Australia’s most exciting singer/songwriters, Mojo Ruiz de Luzuriaga, known professionally as Mo’Ju and previously as Mojo Juju, is an ARIA Award-nominated Australian musician, first known for their 2018 album Native Tongue and the lead single of the same title. The single won the Best Independent Single category in the 2019 Australian Independent Record (AIR) Awards.

After a huge 2021 that saw Mo’Ju take the Sidney Myer Music Bowl by storm, the Wiradjuri-Filipino singer-songwriter steps back into the limelight with an exciting set of restorative jams and electronica shaped around family, identity, healing and expression.

Acclaimed Indigenous vocalist Emma Donovan and Melbourne rhythm combo The Putbacks burst on to the Australian scene with their album ‘Dawn’ in 2015, announcing a new voice in Australian soul music. Emma’s song writing is optimistic, impassioned and bruisingly honest. The Putbacks’ music is fluid, live and raw, and the collaboration has won friends and admirers all over the world. Together they are a live act not to be missed.

With his soulful indefinable voice and the band's rhythm section creating a hypnotic spacious groove, The Meltdown will move your heart and your feet with a blend of Stax and Motown that echoes Memphis soul.

With the huge success of their recently released album ‘The Wait’ – their first record of original songs in 19 years – Vika & Linda are celebrating their 3rd ARIA Top 5 album in just 15 months. ‘The Wait’ debuted at number 2 on Australia’s Album Chart, scoring overwhelmingly positive praise from fans and critics alike. With their soulful vocals right at the fore, Vika and Linda live on stage is an incredible experience not to be missed.

James Henry is an in-demand composer and sound designer, writing various blends of traditional Aboriginal and contemporary genres. His diverse skill set has seen him compose for Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Philharmonica Choir and be musical director for the ‘Dreamtime at the G’ opening ceremonies, and the 'Tanderrum' Melbourne Festival Opening Ceremonies.

The strength in James’ music comes from his diversity. James has toured around the country performing as a solo artist as well as a featured performer on national and international tours with the Black Arm Band and Buried Country. As a singer/songwriter he gets his strongest influences from '60s pop/rock/folk melodists such as The Beatles and Simon and Garfunkel. With his range of style and guitar in hand, James Henry sets take you on a journey with big powerful ballads, quirky light-hearted comical stories and high energy rock.

Each night DJ MzRizk will get you in the groove from 6.30pm ready for a live and livid concert and keep you in the mood during intervals.

Pioneering Lebanese Australian DJ, radio presenter (Boogie Beat Suite on PBS 106.7FM) and event curator, MzRizk has always had a powerful affinity with music.

In her two-decade long career MzRizk has garnered widespread acclaim as Melbourne’s leading champion of underrepresented music, and one of the city’s most respected cultural connectors.

MzRizk has opened for internationally acclaimed acts like MF Doom (RIP), Badbadnotgood, The Internet, Moses Sumney, Common, Jurassic 5, Public Enemy, Sampa The Great, Jill Scott, Maxwell, Evelyn Champagne King, Snarky Puppy, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Alsarah & The Nubatones.
