Numinous Bloom
Numinous Bloom
Monday 12 December, 1pm to 9.30pm
Numinous Bloom is an immersive, interactive installation marrying ecology and technology. The audience is invited into an interactive kinetic conversation with nature by triggering light, sound, and interactive animatronics of a mechanical garden. Highlighting how plants communicate with each other and through symbiotic relationship with other life forms such as mycelium. Flowers are made out of recycled 3D printed plastic and mounted on wooden abstracted shapes contrasting the organic and the manufactured. Using elaborate programming to trigger diverse flowers to bloom with sounds and pathways of light to show the cause and effect of kinetic triggers.
Numinous Bloom manifests a space that brings people to a feeling of natural awe we feel in nature through the paradox of technology. Striving to create beauty from waste, it poses the question, can humans exist within the immense waste we continue to generate but use it creatively to enrich our lives, as nature's closed economy does so well.
