Born in a Taxi: The Cube

Two children watch costumed performers in an enclosed performance space. The performers are dressed as insects.

The CUBE: Illuminating Arts Experiences

Council is excited to present an illuminating and innovative collaboration with world-renowned theatre company, Born in a Taxi. From interactive installations to dance and live performance, The CUBE: Illuminating Arts Experiences will bring contemporary art into the public realm this December.

The seven-day event at Logan Reserve, Altona offers a series of innovative and immersive arts experiences, all showcased in Born in a Taxi’s transparent venue, ‘The Cube’, designed and built by local sculptor David Murphy.

There is so much to experience!

Come see Butterfly House: a magical collision of art, installation, technology, performance, community and sustainability, exploring butterfly life cycles and the miracle of metamorphosis with caterpillar habitat seedling giveaways and an artist lead cocoon making workshop.

Grab a cushion or blanket, buy some snacks from the local traders and sit down to watch some of the best short films and animation made in the west, right in your backyard.

Be enlivened by an encounter with Enlighten, a visual meditation on how we connect, what’s important and our search for the divine within us all. Visual, poetic, ridiculous and profound or move your body in a celebration of dance with L2R street crew’s Tik Tok hip hop workshops and watch graffiti artist Aki Syaguchi create a work over six hours. Stay tuned, more to unfold.

With a delight experimental, playful and interactive program, Born in a Taxi’s The Cube: Illuminating Arts Experiences offers something for audiences of every age and culture.
