Mandalay (1858)

Mandalay (1858)

  • The symmetrical house is a two storey stuccoed bluestone construction, has a very flat slate roof presenting the appearance of a pyramid to the principal facade. There is a single storey verandah with central gabled porch overlooking the bay.
  • Colonial, Georgian derived style, unusual for its roof shape, but otherwise fairly typical of its era.
  • Representative of the substantial houses which lined Hobsons Bay in the 19th century, many with their own piers across The Strand.
