Personal Interest Returns
The Local Government Act 2020 (the Act) requires Councillors and nominated officers to complete personal interest returns.
The Act states that specified persons must lodge an initial personal interest return with the Chief Executive Officer within a prescribed timeframe.
Section 134 of the Act also requires a specified person (who continues to be a specified person) to update their returns with the Chief Executive Officer twice yearly (by 31 March and 30 September).
The information required in both the initial and biannual personal interest returns is stated in the Local Government (Governance and Integrity) Regulations 2020.
Summary of personal interest information
Section 135 states that the Chief Executive Officer must prepare a summary of the personal interest information disclosed in the previous personal interest return.
The summary must be published on Council’s website and available for inspection at the Council office.
Any questions should be directed to Council’s Governance team on 9932 1047.
