A Forest for Altona – A Community Woven Canopy
Next date: Saturday, 14 March 2026 | 12:00 PM
to 03:00 PM
As part of the Dear Agnes Exhibition public program, join Altona Meadows (Bunurong Country) artist Zoe Jones for a collaborative weaving experience that invites the local community to slow down, gather and make together. Using paper yarn and foraged materials collected from the Altona and Altona Meadows area, participants will learn a simple twining technique to create a small circular woven form. Each piece is added to a growing mobile, forming a shared canopy — a floating forest shaped by the people who gather.
Dates – Saturday 14 March, Saturday 21 March & Saturday 28 March 2026
Times – Workshop 12pm to 3pm; Demonstrations 12pm, 1pm and 3pm (people are welcome to drop-in to the demonstrations)
Cost – Free. For ages 6+ with children accompanied by an adult at all times.
Produced by Hobsons Bay City Council with Louis Joel Arts and Community.
Part of Dear Agnes contemporary public art program, presented by Hobsons Bay City Council in partnership with RMIT University, Deakin University and Greater Western Water.
