Reconstructing Fragments

Woods Street arts Space presented Reconstructing Fragments, an exhibition of artworks developed as part of the Wunder Gym arts program.

Mentored by artist Anuradha Patel, participants were invited to respond to the theme 'Reconstructing Fragments' to develop artworks as part of Cultural Diversity Week 2022.

Patel prompted the participants to use themselves as the main subject of the work but to fragment themselves into aspects like emotions, interests or concepts to explore visually and reconnect into a whole image or even into a context like a landscape, community, culture or family. Works developed created multiple facets to reflect on this year's Cultural Diversity Week theme, 'Connecting Through Culture,' and the multiculturalism which is the core part of our identity, character and way of life. Reconstructing Fragments invited the community to reconnect, share and express themselves creatively.

This Wunder Gym iteration was presented by Hobsons Bay City Council as part of the Creative Exchange Lab initiative aimed at supporting western region artists to develop, share ideas and produce artistic outcomes.

Exhibition: 21 March - 13 April 2022
