Getting Published with Archer Magazine

Queer PHOTO image

Join us at the Substation for a workshop with Archer Magazine’s founder and images team. Archer Magazine is the world's most inclusive publication about sex and gender. Founded in 2013 by journalist Amy Middleton, the multi-award-winning magazine is now sold in 11 countries and the website has amassed more than 3 million views since launching. This digital and print publication curates first-person narratives about sexuality, gender and identity from diverse and intersectional LGBTIQA+ perspectives often left out of mainstream media.

Within this interactive session, you will learn:

  • how queer mag Archer curates its photography and images.
  • tips for getting your own images published.

This event is free but capacity is limited, so bookings are essential.

About Queer Photo

Presented by Midsumma and PHOTO 2024, in partnership with Creative Victoria’s Go West program, Queer PHOTO is a first-of-its-kind collaboration - comprising artist commissions of large-scale outdoor artworks, gallery exhibitions and an interactive public performance program by local and international artists taking place in Footscray, Newport and Werribee from 27 January – 24 March 2024, across both Midsumma Festival and PHOTO 2024. Featuring over 17 artists, 14 exhibitions, 30 interactive events and 7 locations, Queer PHOTO is a multi-pronged program transforming iconic venues and the streets of the west into a gallery of accessible and highly visible visual artworks from LGBTIQA+ artists.

Head to midsumma.org.au/queerphoto to check out the full line-up of FREE exhibitions and events or visit Midsumma Westside to see what else is happening in the west this Midsumma.

Queer PHOTO program partners: Hobsons Bay City Council, Footscray Community Arts Centre, The Substation and Wyndham City Council.
