Saturday 24 February, 2pm – 5pm
Commonwealth Reserve, Williamstown
Featuring TEK TEK Ensemble + Yusupha Ngum and the Affia Band
TEK TEK Ensemble perform virtuosic and original music inspired by tropical jungles, late night discos, and 1960s chic.
They captivate audiences with exclamatory trumpet, hedonistic violins, organ, deeply pulsating drums and bass, wild psychedelic electric guitar and synthesizer, and a rich smearing of harmonized singing thrown on top. TEK TEK Ensemble formed in 2010 and have performed countless times around Australia and the world.
One of Gambia’s favourite sons, Yusupha Ngum, leads all-star line-up the Affia Band to deliver an afro odyssey of jazz, blues and funk fusion that leaves audiences elevated and captivated.
The sound is a melting pot of afro flavours peppered with traditional elements, jazz, funk and brought together beautifully with world class musicianship.
