LOST LANDS FOUND – THE FLOWERING GRASSLAND OF VICTORIA

Lost-Lands-Found-image

Get to know your long forgotten ecological neighbours and discover the rich natural treasures of your own backyard.

Less than 1% of what was one of the largest grasslands on this planet survives today, with much of it decimated in just the last 70 years. The Western Plains Grassland has gone from one of the state’s richest and extensive ecologies in just decades to one of our state’s most critically endangered. Great Barrier Reef? Amazon Rainforest? We actually need look no further than our own back door.

Make a deeper connection with the special local natural landscapes and ecologies and importantly in doing so what we may personally do to protect and nurture these ancient flowering grasslands.

‘We are the newest caretakers and custodians of this ancient land that we now call ‘Home’. Our Home, Our Time, Our Turn!’ Dean Stewart is a passionate Wemba Wemba-Wergaia man of Victoria, with over 25 years of experience creating, co-ordinating and conducting Cultural Education, tourism, conservation and interpretation programs and projects.
