Dear Agnes - Creative workshop ‘Remnants’ with Jane Bartier
In this workshop you will hand manipulate weathered tree guards to inscribe your own sense of Agnes Dene’s planting challenge. Material at hand forms part of Jane’s approach as an artist who weaves. Jane has planted many trees in Wada wurrung Country and in returning to the plantings, the weathering of the tree guard redescribes new lines and material shifts in this action.
The tree ‘guards’ open, and in a short workshop, create their own map or landscape. The workshop supports participants to record their own response -with further manipulation; words; drawing; or weaving with this material as well as twines that Jane will supply.
Jane is an artist who explores ‘outside’, off loom and off track with particular intrigue in the movement of water that takes the body into seen and unseen places.
Materials will be available, but you are also invited to bring your own if you wish.
