Queers in the West with Alexis D

Alexis Desaulniers-Lea will be hosting a photoshoot afternoon for those lucky queers that live or work in Melbourne's west. Bring your fave outfit or your chosen fam for this very special photoshoot day. The images will make up a beautiful collection of snaps that will capture what it means to a LGBTQIA+ person from Melbourne's west in 2024. Alexis D is a very talented local photographer who is also the owner of Cat Scratch Studio and Designer at Melbourne's very own queer mag, Archer. Alexis's work focuses on exploring and celebrating gender identity, sexuality, sensuality, and expression through movement and character. This event is free, however bookings are required to secure your session. If you are coming with a group, only one booking is needed. You will be emailed high-res copies of your photos after the shoot.

Presented by Midsumma and PHOTO 2024, in partnership with Creative Victoria’s Go West program, Queer PHOTO is a first-of-its-kind collaboration - comprising artist commissions of large-scale outdoor artworks, gallery exhibitions and an interactive public performance program by local and international artists taking place in Footscray, Newport and Werribee from 27 January – 24 March 2024, across both Midsumma Festival and PHOTO 2024. Featuring over 17 artists, 14 exhibitions, 30 interactive events and 7 locations, Queer PHOTO is a multi-pronged program transforming iconic venues and the streets of the west into a gallery of accessible and highly visible visual artworks from LGBTIQA+ artists.
