Acknowledgement of Country workshop

This event is being run as part of the Civic Spaces Showcase

In this two-hour workshop, participants will begin to explore a deeper understanding of what an Acknowledgement of Country is, why it is observed, and how individuals can write and design their own.

The aim is to bring participants into an understanding of what is offered to them when an Elder or Traditional Owner Welcomes them to Country.

The Welcome is a practice of Indigenous sovereignty, and the Acknowledgement is a reply and statement of commitment.

This is an opportunity to move from statements and intentions into active engagement. Through discussion, each workshop will prioritise the importance of actively engaging with First Nations sovereignty while also acknowledging the challenges of learning and applying what might be new knowledge for some workshop participants.
